Episode 210: Why High Achievers Feel Disconnected From Their Own Lives | Saidie Rodriguez
/Powered by RedCircle
On the Live The Width of Your Life podcast, we explore what it means to not only live the length of our life but instead the breadth, depth, and purpose of each day.
She shares her personal story of creating balance in her life by aligning her daily choices to life values, strategies to redefine success, and creating space for a bit of magic and synchronicity.
It's never too late to change! We don't need to have it all figured out to begin; we can take action daily, show up imperfectly, and be amazed and inspired by how beautiful life can be.

What if nothing is technically wrong with your life, yet something inside you keeps whispering that you are not fully living it?
You can be successful, capable, responsible, deeply committed to the people you love, and still find yourself wondering, Where am I in all of this?
That question sits at the heart of my conversation with Saidie Rodriguez, MD.
Saidie is a physician, speaker, and coach who works with high-achieving women who look successful on paper but feel disconnected from their own lives. Her own journey through medicine, motherhood, imposter syndrome, mindfulness, and self-discovery led her to explore what happens when we stop living primarily from performance and begin living from presence.
What I loved about this conversation is that neither of us approaches change as a simple decision to throw everything away and start over.
Instead, we talked about something much more nuanced.
Choice.
What happens when we give ourselves enough space to ask, Do I want to choose this again?
Saidie shares how asking herself that question gave her room to step outside of her identity, explore what else might be possible, and then consciously choose her life again.
We also talked about the difference between discomfort and being stuck, why mindfulness is really a way of being rather than something we simply practice, and how easily we can miss the life we once dreamed about because we are already looking toward what comes next.
In this episode you'll discover:
Why high achievement can sometimes create disconnection from yourself
How imposter syndrome affected Saidie's experience in medicine
Why self-trust is different from confidence
How asking "Do I want to do this again today?" can create space for choice
Why mindfulness is less about meditation and more about how we move through everyday life
How to recognize when you are living on autopilot
Why discomfort does not always mean something is wrong
How revisiting your vision can help you recognize what is already present in your life
Why abundance can include the ability to receive, not just achieve
What it can look like to release old identities, expectations, and things that no longer belong to you
What it means to approach life with curiosity, openness, surrender, and trust
One of the moments that stayed with me was Saidie's description of living the width of your life as an invitation to curiosity and exploration. She described width as having an openness to rediscovering yourself, your relationships, and your life, and allowing the edges to keep expanding.
That feels so connected to what I mean when I talk about living the width.
Not simply doing more.
Not creating another list of things to accomplish.
But becoming present enough to actually experience the life you are already living.
Perfect for:
High-achieving women questioning what comes next
Professionals who feel successful but disconnected
Women navigating career or identity transitions
Leaders who are tired of living on autopilot
Anyone wanting to build greater self-trust
Anyone exploring mindfulness, purpose, and authentic living
Sometimes the question isn't, What should I change? It's simply, Do I want to choose this again? You don't have to change everything. Sometimes you just need to choose differently, more awake, more intentional, and more present in the life you've already built. That, to me, is part of what it means to Live the Width of Your Life.
